Tutorial: Summer Fresh!

Summer is here! Or well, since I live in Holland it's pretty much just on and off.

On those days where it's 27 degrees out and you just don't want to fuss about your makeup all day, but still want to look put-together, what do you do? I cheat! I do a pretty simple eye, except mascara, very simple skin and a bright lip. It's low-maintenance, quick to do and you look like you put a lot of effort into it. Win-win, right?

Let's get on with the show!

As per usual, here is my makeupless face! Excuse the excessive impurities, but I'm a woman and my uterus is being a bitch. At this point, I had only moisturized and applied MAC's Prep + Prime Skin Base.

Seeing as I won't be doing any elaborate eyeshadow, I just wanted to even out the skintone on my lid. I did that by mixing a little of the Maybelline Dream Lumi Touch Highlighting Concealer in 01 Ivory with my Too Faced Shadow insurance and applied this all over my eyelid, from lashline to browbone.

To even out my skintone I applied Catrice's BB Cream Foundation with my Beautyblender sponge and used the Maybelline concealer under my eyes, by my nostrils and on my chin.

I filled in my brows using Urban Decays Naked 2 on an angled brush and used Faint to define the arch and the tail of the brow. I used a spoolie (mascara-wand looking brush) to blend in the shadow to make it look more natural and make sure my brows were all going in the same direction.

To subtly highlight my browbone I applied MAC's Studio Sculpt Concealer in NW15 along my browbone and ontop of that I used Catrice Bring Me Frosted Cake eyeshadow with a fluffy eyeshadow brush.

To set the concealer on my lid and fully even out the skintone, I applied Urban Decay's Walk Of Shame with a large fluffy brush. And this is basically the eyeshadow done, I said it was simple!

To finish off the eyes I curled my lashes with my Tweezerman lashcurler and applied a generous amount of Essense I <3 Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara.

Next I powdered my entire face, using my Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in 003 Peach Glow. To warm up my skintone, I applied a light dusting of my Body Shop Bronzer in 03 along the outsides of my face (Temples, under my cheekbones, along my jawline). For a very natural looking blush I used NYX Powder Blush in Peach with a duo-fiber brush, to achieve a very light application. To highlight I used my Catrice Prime and Fine Highlighting Powder with a tapered face brush. I also applied this to the inner corners of my eyes and along my browbone, just with my ring-finger.

Now, for the bright lip. I applied an opaque layer of Maybelline's Vivid Lipstick in Vivid Rose. This look obviously supports any sort of lipstick, but I feel that a bright colour (when you can!) is the surest way to look like you put more effort in than you really did. You can go red, pink, coral, orange or even dark and plummy if you want!

Two extra closeups, just because! You COULD add a slightly shimmery shadow on the lid, but in my experience that means I'll worry about my eyemakeup and possible fallout.

And full face! When you read it, it looks like a lot of steps, but this literally takes me 15 minutes or less. It's easy if you're going to be outside all day, all you have to bring with you is your lipcolour and some blot-powder! You could obviously add whatever you want or feel you need to this look, but I like the fresh look of the "naked" eyes.

Seeing as it's summer, this post wouldn't be complete without some shades!

Sure isn't anything like giant retro shades, am I right?! These beautiful sunglasses were a present from my mother. They are from the Gucci Summer 2012 collection, and I LOVE them so much!
