Autumn Emerald Look!

Fall and winter are my favourite seasons. I love staying in on rainy days, the brisk wind and wrapping up in scarves and layers of clothing. Fall also lends us the opportunity to darken up our makeup a little bit, be it lip or eyes or both! I love a bold lip and am more prone to wearing a dark lip than a dark eyeshadow, but sometimes we need to switch it up and move outside our comfort-zones. I did that and made a tutorial of it!

Here we are, naked face! All I am wearing is moisturizer, 8 Hour Cream on my lips and Too Faced Shadow Insurance on my lids.

For my foundation I used my Max Factor 3-in-1 foundation, a mixture of Light Ivory and Nude and applied with a damp BeautyBlender sponge. For concealer I used my Catrice Camouflage Cream in 010 Ivory.

I did my eyebrows using a Catrice brow pencil, it's so old the name has rubbed off, so I have no clue what the colour is called. I set my brows using the Catrice Eyebrow Filler Perfecting and Shaping Gel. It's got more colour to it than the Hema one I always used and it does seem to hold my brows better in shape.

Emeral is a colour that comes back every single fall season, so I decided to have a play with it. I first used this colour from my Boozy Cosmetics p117 palette.

I applied this bright green shadow all over my lid, but decided it was a little too bright/light and topped it off with a darker colour!

I darkened the lid and lower lashline with the deep, moss green from the Sleek Storm Palette to achieve the look I was going for. The layering of the two colours really gives the colour a lot more depth. ( And yes, I am wearing headphones! Needed to listen to music while doing this! For those interested, I was listening to the soundtrack from Lord of the Rings.)

The next step I took was highlighting the inner corners of my eyes and for this I used a shimmery, mint green eyeshadow from my Boozy Cosmetics palette on a pencil brush. Next I took a tapered crease brush (MAC 217) and dipped it into the stormy, dark blue colour from the Sleek Storm Palette and placed this in the outer corner of my eye, through the crease and along the outer 3rd of my lower lashline. What the blue does is actually just accentuate the green even more and just adds a bit more dimension to the look. It almost makes it look greener. I blended it into the green and left the outer edges of the colour pretty unblended.

To finish off the eyeshadow I, again, used a shadow from the Storm Palette. I took a very fluffy blending brush and dipped it in the mid-tone brown in the palette, blended it through the crease just to make the edge softer. This look, to me, was not all about the perfect blending and I kinda like the sort of rough edges it has. It's obviously not for everyone, but I enjoy it!

I lined my upper lashline using the Catrice Liquid Liner Waterproof and kept the line very simple. Thinner on the inside, becoming thicker and no flick as it just disappears in my crease anyway, thanks to my hooded eyelids. THANKS GENETICS!

To intensify the look a bit more I lined both my upper and lower waterline with Essence Longlasting Eye Pencil in Black Fever.

On my cheeks I used my Body Shop Honey Bronzer in 02, NYX Peach Powder Blush and MAC Mineralized Skinfinish in Soft & Gentle.

Finished the eyes off completely by curling my eyelashes and applying some generous coats of mascara. Today I used Maybellines One by One Waterproof. My tried and true favourite!

To finish everything off, I went with a sort of deep, coral nude. This is from the Kate Moss Lasting Finish line from Rimmel, in 07. It's a bit deeper than a regular nude and the coral tone of it makes it very autumnal.

The eyes, all finished. Figured I'd add an extra picture of this as the eyes are very much the focus of this look. It's a bit outside my comfort-zone, but that's healthy I think. And after trying this, I'll be breaking out of that zone more often!

Organizing and de-cluttering my makeup!

This is the disaster that was my makeup storage this morning. It definitely needed some reorganizing and sorting, so I decided to take you guys with me! You're in for a long one, so bear with me.

This is the top drawer of my makeup container-thingie. It holds pencils (eye and lip) single eyeshadows, lip products and perfumes. As you can see it is in urgent need of a tidying.

This is everything that was in the first drawer, I will systematically sort through things as I wish to storage them and throw away some things as I go along.

Lippies! Probably my favourite makeup product, just because of how a bright lip makes me feel.

The round container is part of the packaging for the Beautyblender, but it works perfect for storing lipsticks! I put everything in upside down, so I have a clear overview of the colours and don't have to dig through everything just to find the lipstick I am looking for. I threw out a lipstick by Catrice I never use and some old lipglosses.

This doesn't need much explaining, I guess. Just all my pencils stored in a way that I can see what I am grabbing. Threw out a few old/not very good pencils.

This is pretty simple. Devided eyeshadows in creams and pigmens in one box and single pressed powder shadows plus eyeshadow base and browgel in the other.

Here is everything I tossed from this drawer. An old Beautyblender, an old mascara, old browgels, lipglosses and pencils.

´

Here's a few extra shots of my little helper, Kira. Kira is a 5 year old Dalmatian and likes to get her nose in anything that goes on in the house!

And here's the finished result! A very accessible drawer and a lot less cluttered.

This chaotic mess is all my eyeshadow palettes, blushes, bronzers, highlighters, powders, foundations and concealers. Just looking at this gives me a headache.

These are the contents of the drawer, just piled on my floor. As you can see there is a bit of everything.

In the back of drawer I put my large 88 Warm palette from Coastal Scents as it just doesn't fit anywhere else. In a large box infront of it I put all my smaller palettes. This isn't the prettiest way to store them, but it gives me an easy overlook and makes choosing much easier.

In the front of the drawer I lined up my foundations and bases. No particular order, as I won't keep them that way anyway.

I filled the leftover space in the drawer with a large box, containing all my concealers, highlighters, powders, bronzers and blushes. It's not really in particular order, but I can see the packaging so I can see what I am grabbing easily enough.

Stuff I tossed: Catrice bronzer that is WAY too orange for me. Old Catrice blusher that was starting to smell funky. Max Factor cream blush that does not work very well with my skintype. Empty Maybelline concealer. Catrice limited edition highlighter that doesn't wear very nicely and an MNY blusher that has giant chunky and no real colour to it.

The finished result of my "face" drawer!

The very last drawer is a mix of a lot of things: Brush-roll for travelling, backups of bits and bobs, skin care and medicines. (And for some reason old cables...)

As you can see this drawer is a large mish-mash of things. Let's get it sorted!

Brushroll way in the back, then some medicine stuffs, then skincare and contactlens fluid, masks and deodorant and in the basket/box there's small bits and bobs. Testers of things and tubes that can't stand on their own. Also found another place to store the old cables.

The total of things I tossed! It felt really good to just get it de-cluttered and cleaned up. The medicine packaging still had some tablets left, which I am now keeping in another packaging. It was just a waste of space.

All three drawers lined up, looks much better now, right? I do this every few months, as I am just horrible at keeping it tidy, but I love getting it done. It makes working with my makeup so much easier!

Last bonus-shot of Kira getting a whiff of my Chanel Coco Mademoiselle.
